Zarakerjack wins on handicap debut
ZARAKERJACK made a winning start to his handicap career when winning a 1m2f event at Newbury on Friday.
The son of Zarak had shaped with promise in novice company and benefitted from the switch to turf and step up in trip.
He can been keen so jockey Jack Mitchell was keen to settle him towards the rear of the field.
They went a good gallop and Zarakerjack was travelled strongly with two furlongs to run.
Jack went up the rail, luckily the gaps came and he stayed on well to pass the post a length and three quarters clear.
Tom said: "I am delighted for his owners - Galivated won for them yesterday and this horse today. He is a real late maturing type and we always felt fast ground staying handicaps would be his gig. Hopefully he will improve as the season goes on."
