Victoria Cup triumph for Wizard of Eye
THE Wizard of Eye secured a big-race success for the team when taking the Victoria Cup at Ascot on Saturday.
Owned by Roy and Olly Humphrey and Alison Favell, the seven year old was recording his second win in the race and relished a return to his beloved Ascot.
He had a favourable high draw and jockey Neil Callan was able to track the fast pace set by Yorkshire and Golden Mind. He was still travelling well with two furlongs to run and picked up well to hit the front inside the final furlong. He passed the post a length ahead of his nearest rival.
Tom said: “He really is the most lovely horse- he has had his soundness issues and his owners have been incredibly patient. This is a great result for them and I am delighted for them. Seven furlongs on fast ground on a straight track are his bag and it set up perfectly for him. He’s talented when it falls right.
“He’s one of the most popular horses in the stable – it’s been a big team effort from them to get him here.”
