Tabletalk Melrose victory caps a magic week
Our three runners at York's prestigious Ebor meeting yielded a winner, second and third - a tremendous effort at the most competitive of venues.
Tabletalk, owned by Abdulla Al Mansoori, had run respectably in the Derby before a solid third at Ascot in his first start in handicap company. Stepping up in trip, he travelled supremely well under Rossa Ryan just in behind the leaders.
He quickened up well when asked for his effort and wore down the runner-up The Equator inside the final furlong to win by a length and a quarter.
Tom said: "Tabletalk is a lovely progressive stayer with a great attitude and lots of ability. The Derby made a man of him and he should make into a lovely Cup horse for the future. Rossa gave him the perfect ride - winning at these big meetings is what it's all about."
Al Nayyir came with a late rattle to finish second on his first start for us in the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup. The son of Dubawi had good form in the Middle East over last winter but was the outsider at 50/1. Despite his big odds we were confident of a bold showing and he did not disappoint going down narrowly to Vauban.
Yard favourite Jumbeau picked up more prizemoney when third under Connor Planas in the £100,000 fillies five furlong handicap.
Away from York, the juveniles continued in good form with Invictus Gold winning for owners Moulton Racing and Tommy Severn in a 6f Novice at Newmarket and Sea Emily Run taking the 6f fillies Novice at Goodwood.
All in all a week to remember and a huge thanks and well done to all the team.
