IT was a stellar week for the Kremlin House team headed by Rogue Lightning who landed the GR3 Durkhan Sprint in Qatar on Sunday.

IT was a stellar week for the Kremlin House team headed by Rogue Lightning who landed the GR3 Durkhan Sprint in Qatar on Sunday.

Owned by Wathnan Racing, the son of Kodiac was given a cool ride by Mikael Barzalona, overcoming stall nine of nine to win convincingly.

Mikael was keen to get some cover and switched his mount in behind runners in the early stages.

The pace was strong and he was full of running with 400 m to run - he just needed the gaps to come.

Luckily they did and Rogue Lightning picked up well to win by a length.

Tom said: "To win this prestigious prize with a Wathnan-owned horse is very special. He has thrived since coming here and big thanks and well done to Carrie Browning who rides him everyday.

"He's a very good sprinter on his day - it has fallen right today and Mikael was excellent."

There were also wins on the home front this week for Surrey Shadow (Surrey Racing) in a 7F Novice at Southwell whilst Winnebago won a 7f Novice at Lingfield. Both horses are rated in the mid 80s and deserved this breakthrough success.
