Al Nayyir takes Meydan Group 3

Owned by Elbashir Elhrari, the son of Dubawi hasn’t run since finishing third in the Lonsdale Cup at York in August but he returned to his best with a comfortable win under Rossa Ryan.

He was settled in the midfield, always travelling well behind the leaders which included the favourite Sunway.

Rossa switched out to challenge down the straight and Al Nayyir picked up well to lead inside the final furlong, beating Sunway by half a length.

Tom said: “He really deserved that – last year was frustrating as he kept hitting the crossbar but for him to come and out win like that was really special. He’s a real favourite and a top-class stayer on his day. Huge credit to Molly and Billy who has been in Dubai since he travelled over. He looked super.”

Al Nayyir’s win came hot on the heels of Tabletalk’s terrific effort to finishing in the valuable Group 2 Red Sea Turf in Saudi Arabia.
