Al Barez back to winning ways
YARD favourite Al Barez returned to the winners' circle with victory in the 6f handicap at Kempton on Easter Monday.
The son of Dark Angel, owned by Raed El Youssef, had run well on his two starts this season and deserved this fourth career victory.
He was given a good ride by Jack Mitchell who was able to settle him towards the rear in a race they went a solid gallop from the outset.
This strong pace suited Al Barez and he cruised into contention rounding the final bend.
When Jack switched to the outer to make his challenge, Al Barez picked up well and galloped home strongly to win in the shadows of the post by a head.
Tom said: "He's always had plenty of ability but last season was a non-event and he was unlucky not to have won already this season. It's great to get his head in front again and hopefully he'll go on from here."
